THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME
We are self-confessed archery fanatics. Bowfishing, tournaments, leagues or just shooting jugs in the back yard, we love it all. But bowhunting, well that is a whole other level of intense passion and pursuit. The short range of the bow matches your skills with the highly developed senses of the game. You have to be on point.
Long before there was rifles, the bow ruled supreme. The Recurve bow was history’s first major improvement in basic bow design. Instead of a single length of wood tensioned with a cord, the tips bend away from the user (hence “re-curve”). This seemingly simple change makes a tremendous difference in the available power. Instead of needing a longbow the height of a man, the bow could be much shorter, and archers could use them on horseback rather than on foot.
Recurve was one of our original frame designs for the PBO lens. Like the recurve bow, this was a major improvement in sunglasses design and lens performance, and thus became the name, Recurve!
