The big ones come in at just under 10 feet long. If one slithers by your ground blind in the heat of October, North America’s largest snake will certainly get your attention! Its dark blue indigo color is a perfect description for this mirror and is a perfect fit for the Freshwater amber A10 tint.

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME
Back in the day, we spent a lot of time chasing billfish in the Caribbean. Turns out this was also a large trafficking area for illegal drugs. From an outsider looking in, it seemed to be a serious game of cat and mouse between the long arm of the law and the smugglers. Both sides had their own technology and cunning ways, but on occasion, their paths would meet and the chase was on. I am not sure if it was for weight or possession but it is common practice for the smugglers was to jettison their precious cargo! Protectively wrapped in plastic, the bales of marijuana or other, bobbed with the waves until either picked up by the Coastguard, the smugglers or some not so smart fisherman!
The bales are referred to as a Square Grouper! It is also the name of a great restaurant in Cudjoe Key (Kat recommends you start with the Coconut Shrimp and Spicy Mango Sauce) one of our most popular frames!
A word for the wise: If you happen along on a Square Grouper, Do not stop, Do not pick it up, Do not put it in your boat!
